As you probably know by now, I’m a film student at Northwestern. This quarter, I’m the production designer on a Western, and we start shooting this weekend (WOO). Max is the writer/director and a pretty cool guy. Madison, Ned, and Jeremy are also all working on it and are also really cool people. So is the whole freaking crew, for that matter.
The story is a classic Western revenge tale and is going to be shot (from what I understand) in a Morricone-meets-Tarantino fashion. Think Gladiator in the old west with a LOT of stylistic elements borrowed from the Dollars trilogy.
The thing about Westerns is that they’re really expensive, especially from my department. We have to pay for horses. We have to take a modern bar and converted to a period appropriate Western saloon. We have to drive all over the place to get props and furniture and go to our location.This link is to our kickstarter, which is going pretty well, but a little slow. We’re just about halfway to our goal with 34 days left, and we need every penny we can get.

If you donate a substantial amount I’ll even mail you the wooden duck that the director didn’t want me to buy but I did anyway and it’s going in there).
